Waiting..waiting.and wanting!

Ever since I moved to Canada, I get the feeling that people are always waiting for something to happen here. It is as if their lives have paused and they are waiting for it to restart or reignite again in a much better place.

The high school student is waiting to get out of the country and study in the US, the 20 something girl is waiting to marry someone in New York or London, the old lady from amritsar just wants her passport so she can head back to apna gao and apna desh..and everyone I meet is telling me - if only this happens, we are all set and we can move out.

There is a sense of this city, this country, this destination being just a stop gap arrangement, people talk about where they would rather be, where they are planning to go and why they are stuck here.

So, now I am wondering..what is it about Canada? that people dont want to be here forever for? what is it that makes it not-good-enuf? What is it that makes people cringe when they tell you they have lived here all their lives??Oh well..I guess I will just wait for the answer..

Well, We finally moved to Canada!

The idea of the move itself liberated us from the confinements of visa restrictions and created a lot of possibilities in our mind about what we could do and when !! Did we think the move would be smooth? Nope, but we also didn't imagine this is how it would go. ...
